Big News Roundup

So many exciting things are happening with the Metaphysics of Love Project that I hardly know where to start. This is both a big [news roundup] and a [big news] roundup!

1. Project Workshop
The first in our series of three annual Interdisciplinary Workshops happened this week. Despite the best efforts of some surprising Vancouver snow (and less surprising resultant transit failures), we had a wonderful series of talks, readings, and conversations, and saw the sparking of some exciting new projects and collaborations. Thanks to our fabulous speakers/readers, and to everyone who braved the snow to make this event really special.

2. Philosophy of Love Podcast
At the workshop dinner, our very own Project Collaborator Jelena Markovic launched her new podcast. It is a whole podcast all about the philosophy of love! Find it at lovepodcast.org or on iTunes.

3. Videopoetry
Our workshop also saw the first screening of "Like The Blues," a collaborative videopoem created under the aegis of the Metaphysics of Love Project by Project Collaborator Ray Hsu, me (Project PI Carrie Jenkins), and video artist Marc Neys (AKA Swoon). "Like The Blues" has since been featured on Moving Poems.

4. Book News
I'm honoured to receive a starred review for What Love Is And What It Could Be from Booklist. I'd also like to thank Jennifer Saul, Meredith Chivers, Vicki Larson, and Nigel Warburton for their kind words about the book. If you like free stuff (and are based in the US), there is a goodreads giveaway for my book currently running.

5. Valentine's Day Mini-Tour
I'm going to be doing a Valentine's Day mini-tour! I'll be at Powell's Books in Portland on February 13th, and Seattle Town Hall on February 14th, chatting about What Love Is.

6. Reddit AMA
I'll be doing a Reddit AMA ("Ask Me Anything") on Monday at 1pm EST (4pm PST). The announcement thread is already live for advance questions.
